Originally from Freehold, New Jersey, Autumn Skylar is an actor, musician, and model aged 24 years old. Through childhood they always gravitated towards the arts and participated in talent shows, plays, and musicals as often as possible. They lost their way during middleschool and highschool when their battle with mental illness began as a result of trauma and bullying, but music was always what kept them grounded. At 16 they had an emergency brain surgery as a result of a rare genetic brain abnormality ( Arnold Chiari ) and a related disorder of the collagen ( Ehlers Danlos Syndrome ). Still, music was the throughline that allowed them to express the pain of becoming permanently disabled both physically and mentally at such a young age. For a long time, their life revolved around being in and out of either psychiatric or medical hospitals as well as needing varying levels of adaptive equipment. For a long time they viewed their conditions as a curse, but later realized they had been blessed with the ability to tap into a vast array of experiences for their acting.
Their acting career began after, on a whim, they entered into the Asbury Park Monologue Competition of 2022 and won for their Musical Rendition of “She Used To Be Mine” from Waitress. They landed a year-long contract with a talent agency and began booking work as featured background actor and model. They have appeared since then in commercials, movies, television, industrials, photoshoots, and more. However, their work remains limited as they had their 3rd neurosurgery in January of this year and are still working on their full recovery while only accepting mostly local work. They were just cast in a feature film set to begin shooting in January of 2024 under SAG Aftra guidelines and have a number of other projects in the works.
Autumn’s long standing goal is to bring awareness to the multitude of causes they hold close to their heart and to continue being an advocate for mental and physical illness, but in larger and larger ways.
They want to thank their family, friends, fiance, doctors, and community for giving them the confidence and ability to perform for this wonderful cause and hopefully many many others.
