Christian Lopez is an active music educator, performer, and music director throughout the tri-state area. He currently serves as the Director of Music and Department Chair of Visual and Performing Arts at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ where he oversees the Jazz, Modern Band, and Choral programs as well as AP Music Theory, Piano, and Music Technology courses. During his time at CBA, the program has received numerous accolades including several awards and recognition such as The Count Basie Center’s Basie Award for Outstanding Small Ensemble in a Musical (2022 and 2023) and multiple nominations for Outstanding Music Direction and Outstanding Chorus. In addition, he served as a Jazz Ensemble conductor for the All Shore Band Directors Association in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
A graduate of Penn State University, he holds a degree in Music Education with a Performer’s Recognition Certificate in Percussion Performance. He regularly gigs as a percussionist and music director in the NJ musical theater scene, as well as with groups such as the Plainfield Symphony, artist Michelle Foster, and his original funk-rock band, Honey Wild.
